Best Portable Washer and Dryer Combo

If you need clothes dry, not just spun, the Equator EZ 4600 with its portability kit is the one all-in-one washer-dryer here built for homes without hookups. It washes and heat-dries in one drum on a regular 110–120V outlet and comes with casters and a faucet adapter. Be ready for slow drying and smaller dry loads: Equator rates it at 15 lb wash but 9 lb dry. A twin tub “washer and dryer” only spins water out.

Best washer-dryer combo#1

Equator EZ 4600 Washer Dryer + Portability Kit

The only all-in-one washer-dryer here sold with a kit made for no-hookup living: four casters, a Y-connector and a faucet adapter. It washes and dries in one drum on a regular 110–120V outlet, either ventless or vented through a 4-inch hose.

Why it stands out

  • True heated drying, not just spinning, plus a built-in heater for hot and sanitize washes (165°F, per Equator).
  • Drain pump and a 1,400 RPM spin; ventless mode needs no duct.
  • Fifteen programs, including a short Winterize cycle Equator designed for RV storage.
TypeAll-in-one washer + heated dryer
Capacity (brand)15 lb wash, 9 lb dry
Weight161 lb
Fill & drainFaucet adapter and casters in kit; drain pump
Hot waterBuilt-in water heater; sanitize cycle

Good fit if

  • You rent with no laundry hookups but have a sink faucet and a sink or tub to drain into.
  • You want clothes dry without a separate dryer or a trip to the laundromat.
  • You can leave a cycle to run for a few hours.

Skip it if

  • You dry big loads: Equator’s manual rates it at 15 lb wash but 9 lb dry.
  • You need it to move often: it weighs about 160 lb even on casters.
  • You want fast drying: the manual lists 80–120 minutes of drying after the wash.

In ventless mode the cold faucet must stay open during drying, because the condensing dryer uses running water to pull moisture out of the air.

Best bigger combo#2

Magic Chef 2.7 cu ft All-in-One Washer Dryer

A larger all-in-one washer and ventless dryer on a 120V outlet, with a 2.7 cu ft drum. Magic Chef rates it at 26.4 lb wash and 13.2 lb dry, more than the Equator, but it needs hot and cold taps nearby rather than a sink adapter.

Why it stands out

  • Bigger drum: 26.4 lb wash and 13.2 lb dry, by the manual.
  • Drain pump and up to 1,300 RPM spin.
  • 1-year in-home parts and labor warranty.

Capacity (brand)26.4 lb wash, 13.2 lb dry

Good fit if

  • You have hot and cold taps within 4 feet and a standpipe or laundry tub.
  • You want a bigger wash-and-dry machine that stays in one place.

Skip it if

  • You only have a kitchen faucet: the manual calls for two taps.
  • You need to move it: no casters, about 161 lb.
  • You want fast drying: the manual lists 199 minutes for 6.6 lb.

Tips

Three things that make the difference

01

Wash less than you dry

Combos wash more than they can dry. Equator says to fill the drum only two-thirds for wash-and-dry, and rates drying at 9 lb.

02

Know what ventless means

In the Equator’s ventless mode the cold faucet stays open during drying, because the condensing dryer uses running water. Magic Chef also says not to shut off water during its dry cycle.

03

Vent a separate dryer properly

BLACK+DECKER says its compact dryer must be vented, and CPSC advises rigid or semi-rigid metal duct rather than plastic or foil, which can trap lint.

Honest note

All-in-one combos are slow. Equator lists about 80 to 120 minutes of drying after the wash, and Magic Chef lists 199 minutes to dry 6.6 lb. If you dry big family loads every day, a separate dryer or a laundromat run is faster.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is there a portable washer and dryer combo?

Yes. The Equator EZ 4600 with its portability kit washes and heat-dries in one drum on a regular outlet and comes with casters and a faucet adapter. Twin tubs sold as “washer and dryer” only spin water out, so clothes still need to dry.

Do portable washer and dryer combos actually dry clothes?

True combos do, but slowly and in smaller loads. Equator rates its EZ 4600 at 9 lb dry against 15 lb wash; Magic Chef rates its 2.7 cu ft combo at 13.2 lb dry against 26.4 lb wash.

Do ventless washer-dryers need water to dry?

Condensing models do. Equator says the cold faucet must stay open during ventless drying, and Magic Chef says not to cut off water during its dry cycle. Heat-pump dryers instead reuse air in a closed loop, according to ENERGY STAR.

Can a washer-dryer combo run on a regular outlet?

These can. Equator lists 110–120V at 12 A and asks for an outlet rated at least 15 A; Magic Chef lists 120V at 9.5 A on a 15 or 20 A circuit. Plug straight into a grounded outlet, not an extension cord.

Is a combo better than a portable washer plus a dryer?

A combo saves floor space and moving clothes; a separate dryer dries faster and holds more. The BLACK+DECKER 3.5 cu ft dryer is rated at 13.2 lb, but it must be vented, while the Equator can dry ventless.

How long does a portable dryer take?

Longer than a full-size dryer. Magic Chef says its 120V dryers take longer than 220V models and lists about 30 minutes for 3 lb up to 200 minutes for 9 lb. BLACK+DECKER gives 30 to 200 minutes.
